I’m so glad to meet you
I'm Tyler, a depth-oriented therapist based in Austin, Texas
I'm a Black, queer woman and that shapes everything about how I show up in this work. I understand what it means to move through a world that wasn't built with you in mind.
I became a therapist because therapy is what changed things for me.
I know what it's like to be alone with something you can't make sense of.
To want badly to be seen and understood, and to be deathly afraid of it at the same time. To get very good at being whatever other people need and lose track of who you are in the process.
Sound familiar?
What therapy gave me wasn't just a clearer sense of myself. It was learning how to be in connection with people without bracing for it.
How to feel safe being close to someone. It also widened what I thought was available to me. I came in with a fairly narrow idea of who I was, what other people were like, and what the world was going to be for me. What I found was that I don't have to be who I was told I am, that most of the world isn't made of the people who hurt me, and that I get to be intentional about what happens next, even though I had no say in what came before.
That's the work I do now, and it's why I keep getting better at it.
We don't avoid big conversations here.
Identity, politics, what's happening in the world.
I bring together psychodynamic theory, existentialism, and a systemic lens.
because I think your patterns, human nature, and the systems we're all living inside of are all shaping how you're doing.
To top it all off, I’m also Gen Z.
So you’ll never have to explain what a meme is to me.
The first step to working with me is just a conversation
Book a free 15 minute introduction call with no paperwork and no pressure.
Keeping my caseload small is what frees up my time and energy to keep learning.
The hours I'm not in session go to consult groups, conferences, reading, and studying the particular things my clients are living with.
Mostly, though, I love working with women!
I think women deserve somebody's full attention, and not the leftover kind. My job is to make it safe enough for you to stop performing. Safe enough to become unruly.
The fun stuff
-
Big Brother, Love Island, The Traitors. Not ashamed. Every Thursday you will find me listening to The Read — without fail.
-
Music means a lot to me. I genuinely believe it heals. I'm always down to talk about what you're listening to — it says something about where you are.
-
Rom-coms, psychological thrillers, nonfiction, and actual psychodynamic texts. Sometimes all in the same week. The range is real.
-
Always listening to something. If you have a recommendation, bring it. I love when clients and I end up in the same cultural conversation.
